The development of SINGV, a convective-scale numerical weather prediction system, offers improved forecast quality of localized rainfall in Singapore and its surrounding region. Also in this issue: evaluating temporary shelters used in disaster relief efforts, contamination of Yogyakarta's Belik River, and the recovery and purification of glycerine as a by-product of coconut methyl ester production.
