The past year has been one of significant tumult and difficulty, on all levels of society. Science has not been immune, with research suffering from measures to contain the coronavirus pandemic, and the focus of scientists shifting towards more pressing matters. These events have shown that, in uncertain times, forward progress is more important than ever.
